The online program “Volunteer Day with Student of 5 merits” facilitates student volunteering and helps them fulfill the “Volunteer” criteria which is one of a standard of the “Student of 5 merits” award. It also brings the image of the “Student of 5 merits” in particular and students of the University of Economics and Law in general closer to the community. In addition, the program also contributes to helping others with meaningful activities while ensuring safety during the complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic:
In activity 1, students learn, present and share how to use and benefit from epidemic prevention and control applications such as PC - COVID, VNEID... by writing articles and posting them on their Facebook;
In activity 2, students use the "MoMo Piggy bank" which is the feature on the MoMo application to raise piggy banks, accumulate Golden Pigs, and donate to charities and charity funds on the application to help disadvantaged people;
In activity 3, students donate old clothes, old books, etc. to disadvantaged children who have been affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, near their living area;
In activity 4, students make their own products such as masks, hand sanitizers, etc., or grow clean vegetables, then give them to their loved ones to show their sense of health protection for themselves and their families in the difficult context of social distancing association due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
Social distancing makes the program face many difficulties, especially when it comes to adapting to a new form of organization that is online. But with the work carrying the message of humanity and beauty along with extensive communication work, the number of volunteers participating still reached 1174 people.
“Volunteer Day with Student of 5 merits” is the first online volunteer program but has brought a lot of value to students, helping students to perform useful actions with a heart of love for the community.
